The M4 Sherman was the primary medium tank used by the United States during World War II. The Sherman was produced in several variants and versions The production of the M4A3E8 version started at the end of 1944. The M4A3E8, nicknamed “Easy Eight”, had several technical improvements enhancing the Sherman’s operational effectiveness. The 76mm M1 high velocity gun gave the tank the ability to compete with the powerful German tanks. A new and improved horizontal volute spring suspension (HVSS) system was able to ensure a better driving condition and to guarantee a higher speed.
